Susan Walls-Bortman, RN, M.S., WHNP-C, Nurse Practitioner
Ironwood OB/GYN, P.C. has welcomed its second Nurse Practitioner, Susan Walls-Bortman who brings 20 years of nursing experience to Ironwood.
Susan Walls-Bortman brings more than 20 years experience in women’s health care to our patients. Before coming to Ironwood, Susan had been providing assessment, diagnosis, evaluation, treatment and management of women’s health care to her patients at the Sierra Vista Regional Health Center where she worked as a charge nurse in the maternity unit for more than a decade. That experience rounds out the continuum of care we offer our patients, expanding their options in health care.
Susan Walls-Bortman, RN, M.S., WHNP-C holds a Masters of Science in Nursing/Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner degree from Arizona State University as well as a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Arizona. She is a registered Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner as designated by the Arizona State Board of Nursing and is certified in Inpatient Obstetrics by the National Certification Corporation for the Obstetric, Gynecologic and Neonatal Nursing Specialties.
Ms. Walls-Bortman will not replace patients’ options with physicians, but expand their access to immediate health care. While she will be carrying her own patient load for those who prefer the greater amount of time that a Nurse Practitioner is able to devote to her patients, she will also serve as a back up for Ironwood’s four physicians, whose schedules must sometimes be juggled when called away to deliver babies.
